Basil Watson went to England with the legendary Harry Hawker after Hawker's tour of Australia in early 1914. He becane a test pilot for the Sopwith orgamisaion and was seriouisly injured in a crash. He returned to Australia in 1916 and built his own aircraft, in which he made several important flights before being killed when his aircraft crashed.
